How to Heal Your Skin
Keeping your skin healthy is a never-ending job.
There are so many things that can impact the health of your skin! The weather, your diet, your stress levels, your genetics—the list seems to go on and on. But no matter what the reason may be, it seems that our skin always needs a little extra love to get rid of the dryness, zap away the acne and prevent inflammation and redness from occurring.
But how can we heal our skin? This is where skin repair products really come into play. Our skin can act up at any time and often for very little unknown reason to us. It can be something as little as the change in the weather or simply the stress of completing a long-haul flight.
No matter what the case may be, there is nothing worse than having damaged skin that needs to be healed. This is why it is important to develop strategies to help prevent your skin from getting damaged in the first place and also have remedies on standby to quickly help heal your skin if it does get damaged.
Here is our guide for helping you keep your skin healthy and heal your skin if you need to.
- Stay hydrated
It really is as simple as that. Staying hydrated is a huge component in having great looking skin. The reason being that the more water you drink, the more recourses your body has to keep your skin hydrated and fresh looking. So if you do feel your skin becoming dry on a regular basis, consider trying to add more water to your daily routine. You should see the dryness of your skin becomes minimized and breakouts of acne may become less frequent. It is an easy remedy to include in our daily routine, is cheap, and is just a healthy habit for us to all practice! Your goal should be to have around two to three liters of water every day.
- Watch what you eat
Similar to how much water we have, what we eat can equally impact the health of our skin. Eating too much of certain foods can cause our skin to become inflamed or irritated. While every person is different, try playing around with your diet and what you do and don’t eat and see if you notice a difference with your skin. You might be surprised by how not eating that piece of cake or eliminating dairy from your diet keeps your skin glowing and healthy! Some foods to consider amping up in your diet include papayas, kale, and avocados—they are packed with nutrients that are known to prevent dryness of the skin and make it stay healthy and firm.
- Get your beauty sleep
Seriously, sleep can impact the health of your skin! Getting at least seven hours of sleep every night improves the health of your skin and gives your body time and energy to heal any skin that is damaged and in need of a little extra love. This is because when we sleep our body is creating new collagen—an important component for our skin to stay young and healthy. So just go to sleep and your body will be able to do the rest of the work!
- Be smart with your skin repair products
Every single person should have a skincare routine. This means that we should be cleansing our skin each morning, moisturizing it for the day ahead, and repeating the process again before we go to sleep. But it is just not the skincare routine that is important. The products we use on our skin are equally as important. Skin repair products are only as good as their ingredients, so pay more attention to what is in them compared to what the cost is. If you invest in good skincare products your skin will see better results!
- Don’t be scared to sweat
There is a common misconception that sweating causes your skin to break out and become inflamed. When you sweat, your pores automatically open up and are able to release any build up that has formed underneath. This fact alone prevents any breakouts on the skin from happening! Plus, working out gives us all endorphins. And endorphins help us manage our stress levels. And when we are less stressed we tend to have happier and healthier skin.
Healing your skin is not a one-stop-shop. It is a holistic approach that requires you to make conscious decisions every single day. This means that to heal your skin, you need to make sure you are drinking enough water, you are eating the right foods, you are getting enough sleep, you are working out and you are doing a skincare routine that is right for your skin. And of course, you are using the right skin repair products!
